Top 7 Kulim Attractions (2021)

You can’t think of Kedah without thinking of Kulim. Kulim is a district located about 27 kilometres east of George Town, Penang. Kulim is recognised for having Malaysia’s first high-tech industrial park, Kulim Hi-Tech Park; however, this area is where you should go if you want to see and do a lot of stuff! Here are seven attractions in Kulim that will make you want to visit this town as soon as possible.

1. Kulim Bird Park

This bird park is a petting zoo that combines domesticated animals and docile wild species that are friendly enough to be touched and fed. The park is a shelter to over a hundred animals, including two Malayan porcupines, African hedgehogs, numerous kinds of parrots and pigeon species, peacocks, raccoons, and prairie dogs. The trainers will assist the young children in the right way to handle and feed the various kinds of birds and domestic animals such as rabbits and fish. Furthermore, the kids can try to catch little fish in a small pond and ride horses. Adults will have the opportunity to take pictures with the albino python.

2. Junjong Waterfall

When you think about beautiful things in nature, a waterfall is probably near the top of your list. Junjong Waterfall, which is surrounded by greenery, is a sight to behold and dream about. If you are an engineering student at Universiti Sains Malaysia, this would be the easiest way to soothe your tension. The streams are mostly shallow and suitable for kids to wade and splash in while adults keep an eye on them.

3. Terap Pine Forest

Terap Pine Forest, located in Jalan Serdang, Kampung Batu Sepuluh, is another spectacular sight. The rows of evergreen pines are some of the finest backdrops for a photograph, and it’s not surprising to see couples hiring professional photographers for their wedding photoshoots during weekends. It’s ideal for a photoshoot with a handmade tree swing set in the woods. In contrast to Malaysia’s tropical rainforests, this pine forest will bring you to another country’s woodlands.

4. Eco Park Sg Parit Bunian (Taman Rekreasi Sungai Parit Bunian)

Taman Rekreasi Sungai Parit Bunian has recreational facilities such as jogging and cycling tracks. The park’s playground is also a fantastic location for kids to burn off some energy while having a good time. So, head out for a morning jog and take in some fresh air. Other than that, because of the huge trees and ample photogenic spots, couples always come to take their pre-wedding photos. It is a relaxing place where you’ll see family picnics, small gatherings and also couple retreats.

5. Kulim Golf & Country Resort

Kulim Golf & Country Resort is one of Kedah’s best golf courses. It’s a well-kept course with blind corners, and a long Crossroads Par 3 will surely test our patience in your short game. The elevated teeing ground provides a great view of the clubhouse, and the greenery that surrounds the resort adds to the beauty and tranquillity of the setting. If you’re in Kulim, you shouldn’t miss it.

6. Tree Top Walk

The Tree Top Walk is located in the Sungai Sedim Recreation Park, about a 30-minute drive from Kulim, Kedah. With a length of 925 metres and a height of 26.05 metres above the forest floor at its highest point, Tree Top Walk Sungai Sedim is the world’s longest rainforest canopy walk. The river is crossed twice by the walkway, which is roughly rectangular. The canopy walk was constructed of steel and trusses and weighed 422 214 kg in total.

The primary attraction of The Tree Top Walk Sungai Sedim is the aerial view of various flora in the forest and the flowing stream. Bring your binoculars to see the great variety of birds that live there. You may also learn about trees and plants like cengal, meranti, and petai by reading their descriptions on the information boards.

On top of that, night walks, educational jungle walks, and flying fox are among the most popular activities here. We suggest staying at one of the neighbouring chalets or motels for a day or two or camping there. It is a plus if you can visit this location during the local fruit season, and Durians harvested on the same day are offered at a low price.

7. Taman MBI Desaku Cactus Garden

MBI Desaku Cactus Garden is a lovely park on the outskirts of Kulim. This park is well landscaped and is spread across the gardens of a residential neighbourhood. The Cactus, Japanese, and the Fairy Tale Garden are the three separate themed gardens. Tall ficus trees with interwoven aerial roots, bougainvillaea, and cacti are among the flora in the Cactus Garden. The best time to visit this place is at dusk, for a brief evening stroll, after which you can watch the beautifully lit spectacle against the black sky as the night sets.

While we have only listed 7 attractions, Kulim still has a lot of exciting places and ecotourism features to discover. For example, Tree Top Walk and Eco Park Sg Parit Bunian might appeal to thrill-seekers and suit the entire family and a group of families. Kulim Bird Park, Terap Pine Forest, and Kulim Golf & Country Resort, on the other hand, can provide a brief relief from the monotony of daily life.
